"Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday"

I bought this dress at a sample sale a couple of months ago! It's made by "Crispin & Basilio" and I haven't been allowed to wear it until Christmas. The silhouette, big horizontal lines, and colours make it look like a Chanel...unfortunately, we know better.

It has POCKETS!

This is my Timex watch! It makes me feel like a cartoon character.

These are the family Christmas stockings. They've been around since my grandad was a little kid. Each child gets their name embroidered (or, in my Aunty SJs case, written) onto one of the stockings. My mum did mine last year in cursive! Quite impressive if you ask me.

Meet Pedophile Elf. There is a matching pedo monkey on the otherside of my fireplace mantle. They're both pretty creepy.

Bonjour!
Okay, so a couple of moths ago I old you about the exciting new edition to my family. Well, TADA! My Tory Burch heels have been in a box waiting for me. Needless to say, I am in love! I wanted a pair of heels that I wouldn't get bored of and that wouldn't go out of style. These definitely meet my standards. I mean, come on, navy isn't going anywhere. The gold accenting is perfect...not too much and not too little. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they are classy and wonderful and SUPERDUPER. New shoes aside, I had a very enjoyable Christmas. My grammy and mum prepared a delicious dinner of turkey, ham, parsnips, spuds, brussel sprouts, carrots...etc. We all sat around with large silver crowns on our heads feasting and being merry. Then came the washing up. It was a group effort that took a very looong time. We were all so tired and full but we scrubbed on. When we were finally done we all fell asleep, me in my leopard print snuggie and my mum with a glass of champagne next to her hand. I hope everyone else had a very happy Christmas!

Vinyl Film!

Justin Linn

Miles Stanley

Marco Piro

Bonjour!
I'm back from my nap so I uploaded these pictures I took of Vinyl Film, the band playing at the fashion show. I have serious issues with spelling Vinyl but they have some snazzy tunes regardless. I listened to their demo cd on the way home from San Diego and my dad and I both agreed it was pretty solid stuff. It's kind of like upbeat indie rock so naturally it got people dancing. You have Justin Linn doing lead vocals and guitar, Marco Piro rocking the drums and percussion, and Miles Stanley playing bass along with backing vocals. Their debut album "Save It 'Til The Morning" will be out soon! Check this trio out on their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/vinylfilm I'll get back to my regular fashion posts tomorrow.

"If children don't grow up, our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up"

This is one of my favourite pictures. She looks like she has a tissue paper flower growing out of her skull. Is she bleeding sparkly gems?

I think the pillbox hat should make a comeback. Jackie O rocked it...maybe I will to. Also, note the faded reptile texture of those pants! Cool eh?

Who ever could that amazing girl be and where can I get some blue highlights?

Bonjour!
I feel like I live a double life. I spend an entire weekend at a Speech and Debate tournament then miss the awards ceremony to go photograph a fashion show. It became a logistic nightmare when I broke to finals, because that meant I couldn't leave the tourney for another 20 minutes! Thankfully, my dad and I arrived with 15 minutes to spare, giving me some time to get situated. I apologize to the lines that I wasn't able to shoot! My flash died in the middle of it and it was a mad rush to find some decent batteries in downtown San Diego. There were 8 designers so it was quite a long show, needless to say, my arm ACHED by the end of it. There were a lot of really interesting concepts to capture, for instance, that gold and turquoise dress with the long clear cape. Oh, before I forget, there was a really cool band called Vinyl Film that I will be doing a post on sometime soon. I've had the most miserable cold this week but I didn't want to seem like a pansy for missing the last week of school. I'm on Christmas Break now (YES!!!!) and went to Winter Formal with a group of friends last night. I think I'm going to stop rambling and go take a much needed nap.

Dance! Dance! Dance!

I'm such a Lykke Li wannabe.

Bonjour!
This post is dedicated to Lykke Li because her music has helped me stay sane this week. I am really at a loss for time so I'll have to make this quick. I have a speech and debate tournament this weekend! (FML) I have a pending fashion show to attend on saturday night. My grammy's flying in Sunday. I HAVE A FRENCH REVOLUTION ESSAY DUE TOMORROW. What am I doing blogging when I have so much work to do!???

Blinding Light

My heart beat is rapidly speeding up at a very unhealthy rate...

my feet are turning green with envy...

I WANT THEM.

Karl Lagerfield is a genius and these confirm it. Late at night, when taking out the trash, I'd no longer have to fear the darkness. If I was ever stuck in a tunnel I would live. A car would never accidentally run me over. I wouldn't lose my mind in a whale's stomach due to light deprivation. All the safety threats that I'd no longer have to endure...if only these shoes were mine. But they aren't. God, I am so painfully aware that these glorious shoes are absolutely 100% not mine, nor will they ever BE mine. Forget diamonds! All I need is a pair of sparkly light bulb shoes. WELL GREAT! YOU'VE HAD YOUR LITTLE JOKE! HAPPY NOW?! I can tell you're mocking me. I hope there's a power outage. I hope you break! I hope your light bulb burns out and then explodes! LEAVE ME ALONE!

Same Old Same Old

Okay, so I found these old pictures from Moneray this summer and felt compelled to put them up. I know that I used this exact same cardigan in my last post, but you're just going to have to deal with it.

Bonjour!
I feel guilty for not posting in over a week! Shame on me, I know. I had a very looong weekend thanks to a Speech and Debate tournament. It's terrifying when you go up against debaters that are more like robots then people. Some teams think that the only way to win is to be emotionless. They're arguments lose passion and begin to rely solely on logistics. Thank god my team has more then enough personality. I didn't actually win anything but I'm proud of the girls on my team that did. Post tournament, I took a 4 hour nap and was still too tired to do a post. I'm out of excuses. Oh so I've taken quite a liking to really tacky Christmas decorations, you know, the giant rainbow coloured string of lights that is supposed to border every inch of your roof? My mother and I are bored of elegant Christmases and can't help but admire those brave people who just let loose with ornaments. That will be us one day. On the Christmas note, my Grammy's flying in from England on Sunday! She's leaving Buffy, her vampire dog, at home for my cat's sake. It's going to be just me and her next next weekend because my mum is taking my stepdad to Las Vegas for his 40th. I guess I'll have to carpool to Winter Formal because she can't drive in the US. I'll try to post soon!

xoxo Val

P.S. Dance in the rain if you get a chance!
